Thanks.
OK, made sure I've done a restart, and still no change.

Let me make sure I'm clear on this. Did you change: Subsection “Display” Viewport 0 0 Depth 24 Modes “1280x1024” “1024x768” “800x600” “640x480” EndSubSection to: Subsection “Display” Viewport 0 0 Depth 24 Modes “1024x768” “800x600” “640x480” EndSubSection ? If so I'm fresh out of ideas. My chipset is absolutely identical to yours, I had an absolutely identical problem, and I solved it the way I described. Tell you what: Confirm that you've made the above change. If that doesn't do it send me a private message with your e-mail address and I'll mail you my complete xorg.conf file. Maybe there is something in there I'm missing that I changed but forgot about.

I sent the xorg.conf file from my system to the second e-mail address you sent. Let us know if that worked.

Internal Support Resolution Colors Support Full Screen 1024 x 768 64K colors Smaller Image 640 x 480 16.7M colors Smaller Image 800 x 600 16.7M colors Virtual Display Mode 1280 x 1024 256 colors According to this, it maxes out at 800x600 when using 24 bit color. Try changing the "Depth" value to 16.

Looks like I don't actually have to use it though.

Great! My system does support 1024x768x24 so I probably have more video memory than you do.
I'm glad you got it fixed.
