Vl 5.9 and 'Call of Duty' on new HD
« on: March 19, 2008, 09:54:38 am »

I installed 5.9 on an 80gig HD, so this is a clean install.  I down loaded the loki installer for Call of Duty and installed the game on it.  Since I never did get 'cedega' running properly on my other linux box, I didn't put it on this HD, however I've been playing the game with 'wine"  for weeks now.   When I try to start the game on this HD I get the following error.

"Wine(X)/Cedega not in your PATH"

This throws me for a loop since I didn't install 'cedega' on this HD. I did download and install the latest update for 'Wine'.  So why is Wine looking for Cedega anyway?   I ran "updatedb", then ran "locate" for cedega, Cedega, transgaming, Transgaming, TransGaming and come up with absolutely nothing.  So I'm out of ideas.   ???

I'm open for any and all suggestions.

Did you run "winecfg" first?

No, lagagnon I didn't.  I wasn't aware that I was suppose to.  I never did run it on 5.8, and I played "CoD" fine.  I had troubles getting it to run at first, but the MALLOC_CHECK_=0 command would start the game fine.

When I try now to run 'winecfg'  either as user or su, I get the bash error 'winecfg: command not found'.  So obviously I need more information.  :(
