Hi, I was looking for a small and free utility to chat on LAN between Linux and Windows Machines. Does anything like that exist out there. Google gave me many commercial options, while i was looking for a free solution. Thank you. Thank you.

Hmm, sorry but what is wrong with jabber? Looks like it can do what you want.

Jabber is good, but doesn't it require an Internet connection? I was looking for a solution in closed LAN with no Internet connection.

This one sounds very promising if it doesn't require Internet connection. Thank you. I will be testing it.
