Antialiasing and general make-up

I spend long hours on my PC, so I want that it also looks nice
First, I would like to activate font antialiasing: so far I did not succeed and Thunderbird looks horrible - not to mention eye-straining.

Second, is there some place where I can download more themes, something like www.gnome-look.org, but for VL?
The xfce-look.org works fine for VL also?
Gnome icon sets can be used as well?

I come from Linux MINT/XFCE who was very good on this respect (but not very stable and not fully performing on my laptop)

But apparently does not work for everything. For example, mousepad is still aliased
