Sorry, I couldn't recognize that they were checked, because it is not a clear check mark in this menu...

Anyway, Uelsk8s, I have to give you many thanks for this excellent Linux  lesson and the outstanding support you provided.....now it works...
The problem is solved, case closed. Celebrating VectorLinux Victory.
In my opinion, VL is the best distro for an old Dell Inspiron 2500 Laptop!

If I want to remove the *.14 kernel, you said in your previous post, that I should run 'removepkg kernel and removepkg kernel-src'.
Don't I have to define which kernel version I want to remove?

it should be removepkg kernel and removepkg kernel-modules
you should only have 1 version installed by the package manager thats why you wouldnt have to define which version.
you can run pkgtool from a terminal then remove the packages there so you can see exactly what is being removed by what you select.
or list the files by "ls /var/log/packages|grep kernel"
