I've been bouncing around from distro to distro.  Trying VL today for the first time.  It's really nice and clean, I like it alot.

Question:

I opted for fluxbox as my winmgr.  I have used flux before but never really *tricked it out.  I like it because of it's simplicity.  The Fluxbox VL starts has something similar to gdesklets app launch bar at the top(OSx look alike) it has the Home(thunar), Firefox, and some other icons for launching apps.  How can I configure, add, remove some of the apps / icons on that launch bar?

look for your ~/.wbar

or something like /usr/share/dotwbar

One of those files defines the icons on the bar

Your best option is to copy /usr/share/wbar/wbar.dot to your own home directory as .wbar and customize that. Doing that means that any updates to Wbar won't overwrite your settings.

The wbar is very nice but if you decide you need more icons available you may like the wmdrawer program that resides in the fluxbox slit. I posted some fluxbox tweaks in this thread and some screenshots are below so you can see what it looks like. the program was kindly placed in the repository for easy install
not that you ask but I like fluxbox also
cheers
