Hello,
I try desperately to install VectorLinux on a Laptop

Workplace:
Laptop Dell Inspiron 2500,
20GB Hard Drive divided in two 10GB,
hda1 for WindowsXP,
hda2-4 for VectorLinux

Installing from CD hangs at the line:

   "Loading iSCSI transport class v2.0-724"

   What does it mean?

Using the same CD on another computer,
this line does not appear and the loading proceeds correctly.

I wonder what is responsible for this line and how can I prevent it!

Any ideas?
Huh

Cariboo,
not sure what the problem is.
Can you try the B4 release of Light http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/veclinux-5.9/iso-release/VL5.9-Light-B4.iso
It has 2 different kernels that you can try booting there.

Let us know if it works for you.

Thank you, Uelsk8s...
I'm about to get the *.iso Light downloaded which takes about two days on Dial-up...
That's OK...I'm used to it Smiley I'll keep you posted...
In case the installation works, can I update to the Standard version?

There is no "Upgrade to Standard" option, but you can use gslapt to download any package in the repository, including XFCE.

Hello,
I downloaded it once (BTW there was no md5sum check available) and got probably incomplete data.
I burned the iso file, all folders and files where extracted but it didn't work.
When booting from the CD I got this message:
Quote
ISOLINUX 2.01 2003-01-31 Copyright (C) 1994-2003 H. Peter Auvin
Could not find kernel image: linux
boot:
Now I wanted to download again but it seems the site http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/veclinux-5.9/iso-release/VL5.9-Light-B4.iso
is down....
So far no success Roll Eyes

I got VL-Light installed and it behaves exactly the same as VL-Standard, I tried to boot both kernels....
Installation OK...some little tests OK...After shutdown or choosing Win from LiLo menu and then restarting to Linux, the boot sequence hangs at the line: "Loading iSCSI transport class v2.0-724"
Leaving the system in that condition, I tried Absolute Linux CD, Puppy Linux CD and both boot. Trying to boot from VL-Light CD again hangs at the same line. I probably could access /var/log or other files via the Knoppix CD to give you some more info, if it is of any interest for you.
I throw the white towel...for now...
Thanks for all your support  Smiley
