I tried the Live CD  Vector 5.9 preview SOHO on my Toshiba laptop with a D-Link DWL-650 plug in card.

Both lights flash, indicating (at least to me) that a connection has been established to my router.
Yet I cannot get the browser to work, suggesting that maybe I do not have a connection.   Any help would be
appreciated.

This release is very impressive, thank you.

you need to run VLwifi or iwconfig and set the wireless up before it will connect.

one thing to test connection for your wireless card is to ping the IP of your wireless router or access point.........

And as a last step, try:
Code:
dhcpcd wlan0

or whatever you're wireless interface is.  That is, if you're using DHCP.  It works for my Atheros-based card, which is stubborn and persnickety.
