Hi everyone!
I am glad to announce that Vector Linux won the "Which small Linux distro is best for my new old laptop" competition!

I'm a Computer Science student and I needed a Linux distro because I need it for school, so I worked with Ubuntu in VirtualBox on an XP host until I unexpectedly got an old laptop from someone who got a new one. So begun the search for a small Linux distro. I tried DSL, Puppy, Feather, Vector, Ubuntu, SLAX and Wolvix in Virtualbox. I messed around with them and ended up installing DSL on the laptop (which, btw was running, or better said slugging XP). The problem was that DSL wasn't really meant for HDD installs, so I was having trouble with the backup system there. So I installed Vector Light (ofcourse I overwrote the MBR, DSL disapeared, etc. ) and after a lot of google-ing I was running a dual-boot DSL/VL.
.....
Fast forward to today, when, after a lot of reading up I got everything customized almost to the way I want it. There are of course, a few things I have to ask, and will ask soon (can I put more than 1 question/thread? (the rules say 1 question/thread)).
Sorry if it was too long&boring, I tend to overdo things
