KDE4 packages for VL59
« on: March 08, 2008, 07:38:21 pm »

Hi All

This is my first post in the VL forum. Greetings to you all.

I was wondering from where can I get latest KDE4 packages fro VL59. Is there any chance they will be released on the VL repository soon? Or do I have to wait till the next release of VL?

Best regards!

I don't know when it will be out for VL but I was reading that Slackware will release it with there next version (12.1) so when that happens we will probably have some opportunity to get it via repositories.  I actually really like KDE 4, it is slower but for lots of stuff it is very cool.  I am using it with the Kubuntu side of my laptop (I have duel boot Vector & Kubuntu 8.04)

The Slackware changelog:

"The next Slackware
release will contain KDE 3.5.9, but we're targeting KDE 4.1.x for the one
after that. The application end of things doesn't quite fully cover KDE3's
functionality yet, but by then it will. As I'm sure most of you know, Robby
has put up test packages of the initial KDE 4.0 release which I've tested and
found to be consistent with what to expect from a developer's preview."

There is a KDE4 Slackware build out from rworkman that will build KDE4
on Slackware 12.1.
