hi,

i am trying to install a hp deskjet on vl

i use soho 5.8 with kde 3.5.6 and an hp deskjet 710 with parallelport.

so i downloaded a ppd file...but have difficulties to tell cups the exact path to the printer..

socket://..Huh
lpd://..Huh
http://..Huh?

what is the axact path for cups to find my printer?
and which protocol?

i downloaded this ppd file

Did you try to add it using the KDE Control Center > Peripherals > Printers ... ?

Make sure CUPS is selected in lower right corner, click Add Printer/Class. You should get to a page where you can select "Local Printer".

yes i tried all local printers to no avail..

device-url was....parallel:/dev/lp0

the other parallelports have epson and canon described below...

cups and hardwaredetection (parallel) is activated

but no testpage was printed

var log messages did this..

my interrupt..

7:        409   IO-APIC-edge      parport0   (proc-system)

but my modules.conf is empty..except of eth0..hmmmm

solved..

i downloaded a nnm2app file and configured cups..worked
