Installing VL DELUXE
« on: January 06, 2008, 01:22:57 am »
I bought VL 5.9 DELUXE and installed the first cd and works quite fine (except I have no live CPU frequency switching support and no bootscreen on startup)

Then i ran an automated install of VL DELUXE from CD2.
Restarting my computer i get on startup :

messagebus : [failed]
hald : [failed]
APM : [failed]

What config could have changed that removes HAL Daemon startup ??
Proudly running VL 5.9 DLX GOLD 2.6.22.14 + KDE 3.8
...on my ASUS laptop with Pentium-M @1.8Ghz + ATI Mobility X700 + Intel Wireless 2200BG

Go to VasmCC, choose Hardware, then Mounter.
You can then choose Vl-hot as the mounter, instead of HAL.

I found that installation of skype from the 2nd cd failed because of" files not found" but an empty skype.conf was installed in /etc/dbus-1/system.d. I removed the empty file, now hal loads.
I used the load all but multimedia on cd2 which tries to load skype.
