OpenOffice 3 beta and docx
« on: May 15, 2008, 01:25:30 pm »

Hi,

I wanted to try latest beta of OO. I got the rpms, converted them to tgz and installed under Vector Light beta 5. Office run without problems but I read that it is supposed to open MS Office 2007 docx files. I tried and got a message that "file is not in winword 6 format" or something like that. Has anybody tested it and managed to open docx?

I did more testing:
A simple file created with MS Office 2007 containing only few words is openable. A larger files containing more sophisticated data are not. So there is still long way before OO3.
