Am I overlooking a desktop calendar for VectorLinux-5.9 Light?
I don't see one anywhere.
Can someone recommend a small simple one to install? GUI?

I use jpilot on light..it is available in the repository..you may need to add testing to the source list. it will list under office on the menu after install..it gives the current date and time and month at a glance..but has appointments and todo list and phonebook if you need it

Click Edit > Preferences > Sources, Check the box for "Testing". Click "OK" and allow it to update the list from the Internet. When done, use the search field to look for applications. |

oh..was typeing when nightflier answered...I recall bluez-libs was downloaded and then jpilot and I think bluez-lib was from testing..it will list the files to be downloaded when you click exec after checking the file and choosing install
in other words it is automatic if testing is added to source list and you then search for jpilot, check it and choose install from the dropbox and then exec..you will see the list to be downloaded...click ok...it should download and install and you will find it in office as I mentioned above

Installed and working fine...
except it did not add it to > menu > office
no problem...I can run it from Terminal...
but if you have a little command line trick to make it happen,
I'd be interested in learning
I tried Sunbird, but it was much bigger and really slow...
This works perfectly

Hey! don't want act too proud of myself....but... went to menu > system > edit menu and added : <Program label=" jpilot" icon="/usr/share/pixmaps/date.png">jpilot</Program> and it worked! every once in a while I can figure it out myself...if I'm lucky Thanks Again |

Glad it worked out..sorry..I was refering to lxde when I mentioned the office menu item...I often use fluxbox so often forget about auto menu entries

If jpilot doesn't work out, you could try either xcalendar or ical, both of which work in Puppy, another lightweight distro. I assume they both compile in Vector but tbh I haven't tried them to make sure.
