I spotted a very interesting benchmark for linux filesystems
(look at figures at http://linuxgazette.net/122/TWDT.html#piszcz)
It seems that JFS wins in most categories for speed and CPU usage.

I wonder why I cannot find jfsutils in Vector repository? [SOHO5.8]
Have you guys had bad experience with JFS?

That's probably something that might have been overlooked as far as packages. You could request a package in the package request part of this forum. Or, if you feel like building and installing from source, there's a 1.1.12 version here:

http://jfs.sourceforge.net/project/pub/jfsutils-1.1.12.tar.gz

I'm sure it had nothing to do with any bad experiences with jfs.
