I want to know if the lastest version of VL will run on my system...
P3
128MB RAM
10 GB HDD
700 Mhz or so
Any other details required?
Please tell me which versions will work properly.

VL 59 STD or VL Light will run fine on your system...but if can I will recommend you to upgrade the RAM.....  |

I don't think 128MB is sufficient to run XP........ minimum HD requirement for VL59 STD is 4-5GB and for VL light is less then that..... |

Define fast. Faster then running WinXP with the same specs? Certainly.
But dollar for dollar. Ram upgrades make a huge difference.

I agree with the upgrading the RAM but I dont have the $ now...
XP does run on 128MB ram.........I am using it to post now....
Maybe I will upgrade my HD also....

A couple of corrections/clafications.
A full install of Vector Linux 5.9 Standard will take up about 3.3GB of space. You certainly don't need to install everything for it to run well. The OS and desktop environments offered will run just fine in 128MB of RAM. What will be slow are some of the applications (Seamonkey, Firefox, Thunderbird, Scribus, some games, WiFi Radar, etc...) Using lighterweight applications like Abiword or Gnumeric instead of OpenOffice or Opera instead of FIrefox/Seamonkey/Thunderbird will work out best for you. You can also save RAM by using JWM instead of Xfce which will allow more for applications.
A full install of Vector Linux 5.9 Light will take up about 1.8GB of space. Any of the desktop environments or window managers on the iso will run just fine in 128MB of RAM. The same comments about applications apply. The only downside to Light is that it's still in beta and there are still some bugs to be worked out.
Either way your system has more than enough horsepower to run VL. I agree with those who say more RAM is your next upgrade. More hard disk space is always nice but it won't improve performance.

It's already at RC1 so I can't imagine it will be much longer. It's Light, BTW, not Lite. Some of us believe that Lite == crippleware and there is nothing crippled or limiting about light.
You might want to give the current release candidate a go. A lot of people are having great success with it. Most of the bugs seem to be annoyances with the LXDE desktop. I like LXDE but JWM is pretty much trouble free.

There is no mailing list AFAIK. New releases are announced here in the forum. There is a section called Distro Releases right at the top of the forum releases. Final releases also go up on the website.
