.  Having said that Via did recently display Via branded mini notebooks at a computer show in Taiwan (see Distrowatch article two weeks ago Monday) and when I have time I will dig up the report that at least one such model will be in the U.S.

I found the article in question at Distro Watch.  The author of this article states that the biggest shock of the Computex computer show in Taiwan was the Via booth.  The author counted no less than 24 mini-notebooks that featured Via technology.  These notebooks were from various different manufacturers including the HP MiniNote, the Everex Cloudbook and a "previously unseen Quanta ILI Mini-Note (pictured in the article).

Sony, VIA, Mininote. Marketing cock-up? is an interesting article about a Via Openbook prototype apparently manufactured by Quanta on display at the WiMax Expo which was held alongside Computex.  The following statement is quoted directly from the article: A check of the laptop’s properties confirmed the laptop is based on a 1.6GHz C7-M processor from Via and listed Sony as the manufacturer. When the existence of Sony’s name on the machine was pointed out to a Quanta executive manning the booth, he quickly closed the properties window and declined to explain why Sony was listed as the manufacturer.  Hmm...

It does appear that Via is actively marketing it's hardware technology to companies that are in the business of manufacturing mini-notebooks.
