Hi,

This is my first problem which I am facing. My onboard sound is not working and when I try to  play any media files the
system hangs and I have to restart....

I had a problem with my network before this which was resolved by me aftera  a lot of time was spent on it....

this my config
PIII, 550 Mhz
128 MB ram
80 gb x 2 hdd
ECS motherboard

I would have given lsmod and lspci o/p as given by others in quotes but i don't know how to copy from text from xterminal  Huh

lspci is showing the sound controller

PS : i am a complete linux noob... all day i learned what I could

You can select it with the left mousebutton, then paste it with the middle mousebutton (wheel) or both buttons at the same time if you have a 2 button mouse. Once you get used to it you'll miss it every time you use Windows. I know I do Cheesy.

Most music on my soundcloud page was arranged in programs running on VL.
