I noticed that I could only see NTFS partitions but could not manipulate them. Is this a libparted or ntfsprogs issue or am I missing something as NTFS should be fully compliant with 0.3.8?

Not sure... Supposedly parted should be able to manipulate NTFS with the help of ntfsprogs.
I don't have ntfsprogs installed (cannot find it in the repo), and no ntfs partitions, so it's hard to test it.
Are you trying with ntfsprogs 2.0.0 ?

Not sure that ntfsprogs is actually included with SOHO 5.9. There's a folder for 1.13.1 but there does not seem to be any real "content". I'll try getting 2.0.0 together and see what happens.

I've just uploaded a ntfsprogs package (2.0.0) to the repo vectorcontrib. (EDIT)
It should be in testing soon.

Let me know if after installing this, you're able to manipulate NTFS partitions.
Thanks for testing.

Great, I'll look for it. I had been reluctant to build it as I don't have a test machine available at the moment.

It's working fine for me on SOHO 5.9. I haven't tried to use it with NTFS file systems, so I can't comment on that.

ntfsprogs is in testing now, mikecindi, so you can check if it works.

Thanks!

I should have some time this weekend to work with it. I also will get my test machine back so I don't "kill" anything of value.

I just tried creating, formatting, checking, resizing, moving, and deleting an empty ntfs partition.
Everything went fine, once ntfsprogs is installed.

Thanks wcs; just tried it out myself with the same result. I'll give it a bit more time before I put it into production but suspect that all is well with it.

cool... but yea, one should always be careful with partitioning stuff.
I'm running late on my backups, but I upload the most important bits on two different servers.... just in case something breaks  Smiley
