Now, however, my configuration files are owned by root.  Is there an easy way to change permissions on my /.config/xfce4?

Perhaps:
Code: [Select]
chown -R user:group /home/user/.config/xfce4(as root)

Thanks wcs.

As no response has been made, I am changing this reply radically, i.e. your suggestion worked perfectly. I was stumped at first as I didn't realize I had to substitute my actual names for user:group.  As usual, I am very pleased with Vector and happy to know that there is an easier way than using midnight commander to change owners.  I think the permissions are OK, but will check them as time permits.

Thx

John
