I have a Netgear router, and a Netgear USB adapter which is being recognised, but I don't know the next steps to get it working.  I ran the wireless part of VASMCC, but this did not seem to register the adapter.

The command lsusb shows:

Code: [Select]
Bus 4 Device 2: ID 044e:3001  Alps Electric Co., Ltd  UGT24 Bluetooth
Bus 4 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 3 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 2 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 1 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 1 Device 2: ID 0846:6a00  Netgear Inc. WG111 WiFi (v2)

The Netgear router is working fine, and the adapter works fine on a Windows machine, but I don't know how to get the adapter working under VL 5.9 Standard.

I would also be interested in getting the Bluetooth device to work, but haven't used Bluetooth at all before.

Here is the site for Ndiswrapper. There are great instructions.

http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/joomla/

Now for Bluetooth:

Google is your friend.

When using Google place linux or Slackware in front of it.

Many thanks.  Just an update.  I've got the Netgear adapter working.  I found out that VL 5.9, using ndiswrapper, needs the Windows 98 driver for this adapter, rather than the Windows XP one.

After installing the driver with ndiswrapper, the commands used (for a WPA connection) were:

Code: [Select]
depmod -a
modprobe ndiswrapper
wpa_supplicant -Bw -Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
dhcpcd wlan0

Sometimes this has worked on its own.  Sometimes I have needed to use VASMCCs Wireless configuration utility.
