I really like to give it a swirl. Gotta wait for the Linux-version, though...

I dislike google for pretty much the same reason I dislike Microsoft: they are too big, and have too much of a monopoly position. With them already storing search requests for 18 months they are dangerously close to becoming YABB (Yet Another Big Brother). Also, I'm not a big fan of closed software. Their browser will not be on my box thankyouverymuch.

I read through your link wc, it reads like google is planning on keeping this open source. Really, does seem to approach the idea of reworking the browser in the right way. Google will however find a way to make this chrome browser a marketing and data collecting machine.

Yea, this one seems to be completely open-source. They do get a bit "we're such good guys, we're giving it back". But isn't that just because they have code from mozilla and webkit and those are free software?
Some of the innovations seem pretty good, like each tab being a different process and the new javascript vm. Security and anonymity also seem to be a focus. Whether that is actualy true and works well remains to be seen.
The beta for windows is now out.

it reads like google is planning on keeping this open source. In that case I spoke too soon. I suppose I might give it a go when it comes to Linux then. That doesn't mean I'ma start trusting them now though. "Just because I'm paranoid don't mean they ain't after me ."

im playing around with this browser for a while now and i must say- it blows the others out of the water. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xlh8gSF_hhEway lighter than firefox, has its best features and more. Its clean, simple and effective- has some very sweet and original features ,which i can not live without anymore.

Try impoting your history links it hangs forever, then crashes. The new browser window thing is a real eye cathcer. Not enough scalability to it too closed a technology. imho regards metvas

I take it you folks are using the Google browser under straight Windows? If I try it, I'll wait for a Linux version. --GrannyGeek
