Can you search for a particular app with Gslapt?
Can you use Gslapt to install app's already downloaded?

1)Type "openoffice" in the gslapt search bar and hit enter?
2) No. Just get into a terminal, login as root (type "su" then root's password) and type "installpkg nameofpackage.tgz". Or you can do it from "mc" also by using the F2 menu.Or open your file manager and right click on the package. There should be an option to install it.

I believe the latest OpenOffice may still be in testing.  If you don't find it doing the search lagagnon recommended you'll have to do one additional step:

Click on Edit --> Preferences
Click on the Sources tab
Make sure Patches and Testing (third and fourth boxes down) are checked
Click on the Update icon

That will enable the additional repositories.  Then do exactly as lagagnon suggested again.

Once you're done go back into Sources and disable testing.  You don't want to do system upgrades with testing enabled as this can cause breakage.
