Vector has packaged Mozilla Firefox 3.0.1 for VL 5.9.  Please note that the language packs for this version have NOT been packaged yet so if you want to run Firefox with menus/help/etc... in a language other than English you might want to stick with 2.0.0.14.

I installed it on my VL 5.9 laptop and it's working fine. I'm posting this from Firefox 3.0.1.

Thanks for making this Firefox update available!

Working fine here.
No problems with flash crashing (so far), as happened occasionaly with 3.0.

I still had some sporadic flash or mplayer crashes with 3.0.1, although less often than with 3.0.
The last thing I tried was gettting the flash 10 (beta) plugin from here: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

It's working flawlessly so far, and I've read somewhere that it is not as nasty on memory requirements.
So if anyone, is experiencing flash crashes with firefox (or other browsers), you can give it a try.

Firefox 3.0.1 is now in our patches repository for VL 5..9.  The package name has been changed to mozilla-firefox.  What this means is that to upgrade from 2.0.0.x to 3.0.1 you need to uninstall the old first and then install the new.  Upgrades using gslapt or slapt-get will NOT work and you'll end up installing the two Firefox versions side-by-side.  The advantage of this is that users who prefer languages other than English will still have 2.0.0.14 packages that work in their preferred language.  Language packs for 3.0.1 will be available as VL packages in the near future.

Per Vector this is a syntax error in the slack-required file.  We'll have a replacement package up soon, probably Firefox 3.0.2.

This package is being pulled from the repo since it obviously has a problem.  Please install the mozilla-firefox 3.0.2 package now in testing instead.
