hello,
I tried to compile the two packages from source code: tcsh was working, but it installed under /usr/local/bin instead of /bin
xawtv did not work at all.
can someone package these two packages for vector 5.9 standard?
thanks

if you compiled it from the source, you only have to
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
make install

The ./configure --prefix=/usr   works for most packages

There is a tcsh package in slackware repos (http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackware-12.0/) so you can install it with slapt-get provided you enable that repo.  slack has many packages but does not do dependency tracking.  I suppose you won't have dependency issues as you already compiled it (I usually install zsh from slack repos without problems)

tcsh was on my to do list for VL 5.9 and 6.0.  I'll try to get to it soon.  In the meantime there is a VL 5.8 package for tcsh that does work under 5.9.

I have no means of testing xawtv so I'll have to leave that to someone else.

thank you for the hints!
xawtv would help me very much. it shoud work with bttv-cards like my terra-tv value, and as I read in some threads: for many other users it should work with webcams.
regards
