Can someone add the Pidgin 2.5.1 to the repository?

hata_ph already has it packaged (see link below)  but it is not yet posted in the repositories.

http://forum.vectorlinux.com/index.php?topic=7222.msg49594#msg49594

If there is a reason why Pidgin 2.5.1 shouldn't be added, please let us know.

It seems silly that you have someone who has already done the work of packaging the program and yet not be able to add them to repo without any good reason.

Ummm... exeterdad has been MIA for a few weeks now.  I hope he's OK.  I have been acting as the fill-in repository manager with some help from Vector and every submitted package I was aware of has been added to the repository.  Please don't assume that anyone would deliberately refuse a package unless something is wrong with it.

hata_ph:  Please write to JohnB316 so he can set you up with a contrib directory and access as well as access to the Packagers' Board.  Once he does that I will add your package to testing immediately.  I know I'm not alone in saying thank you for your willingness to package for Vector Linux.  We appreciate all our volunteer packages.

Please see if you can figure it out with John as having eveyrthing in one place makes it easier.  At least have John give you access to the Packagers' Board here in the forum so that you can give the repository managers a heads up when you have a package in the same place as everyone else.

In the meanwhile I went to your 4dhared link and I can grab your pidgin and dia packages and add them to the repository.

I ran into a problem.  I downloaded dia and the sources with no problem.  I also downloaded the pidgin package, the slack-desc file for ti, and the slack-required file for it.  When I went to the src directory 4shared wouldn't let me unless I logged it.  I don't have and don't want an account with them.  Is this a permissions issue?  Can you give me access?

Unfortunately to be GPL compliant I can't post a package without source.

It's working now.  I guess they have a limit on how many files a non-member can download at a time.

We clearly need to get you setup to be able to contribute the way everyone else does.
