wireless NIC [solved]
« on: September 23, 2008, 06:54:15 am »
ok i am using vectorlinux 5.9 lite on my dinosaur lappy, and i have been following the tut for setting up the my wireless card (pci)

ok so i do the lspic -n and i notice its the same as the driver that i installed in ndiswrapper -l the driver says
"wg311v3: driver installed
device (11ab:1faa)present"

this is slightly different from what is on the tut

2802w           driver installed
airplus         driver installed
bcmwl5          driver installed
gplus           driver installed
mrv8ka51        driver installed, hardware present
net8180         driver installed
netadm11        driver installed
netdlwl         driver installed
ntpr11ab        driver installed
w70n51          driver installed

and that goes on to say if it aint on the same line the card aint being detected
"If it doesn't have "hardware present" on that line, then your card is not being detected."

i mcedit'ed in the alias wlan ndiswrapper in the /etc/modprobe.conf
thinking that would fix it... nope

because i did the following
"depmod -aq
modprobe `ndiswrapper`

it takes along time
and it says killed
i think i what is going wrong is that the card's drivers might not be comunicating correctly, but thats just a guess...
i am quiet stumbed here. lol help please.
if you need me data of the setup.. please ask.. and you shall have.

EDIT- dumb me i got a 511v2 card... does anyone know so where i can get the .INF file needed for this NIC? i got only a .exe from netgear...

The Documentation page for Ndiswrapper is down.

Here is a guide that should get you going. Please note that
you can skip the install steps, start from the .inf file.

Glad you got it working.

It's helpful if you change the title of your original post to include [SOLVED].
