Vector has packaged the latest and greatest version of The GIMP and some new required libraries (dependencies) for VL 6.0.

I don't seem to be able to find these packages.
I mean, it's clear that they are there, but slapt-get/gslapt don't seem to list them in testing.

The VL 6.0 alpha iso I installed actually has an /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc file that pointed at the VL 5.9 repositories.  You need to make sure you are pointed at veclinux-current, no veclinux-5.9.
