What is the process for installing Adobe Reader 7.0XX on Vector GOLD 5.9?  I tried making a package from the tar.gz downloaded from Adobe, but it wouldn't install.  Pkgtool wouldn't recognize the .tgz file I created using the makepkg command.  The desktop environment allowed me to right click on the .tgz and select install but it appeared that installation stalled.  Please help. Extract the files from the .tar.gz using right-click.
You will see a directory called AdobeReader.

Open a terminal inside that directory and start the install script as root:
Code:
./INSTALL

It will ask you a directory to install the reader.. you probably want to install the program inside /opt/Adobe/Acrobat7, or something like that.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want Adobe 7 instead of Adobe 8?
