My brother-in-law has asked me to install Linux on his brand new HP Pavillion tx1000 laptop. THis is one of those new things that's got a touch screen (wacom tablet), webcam, flip screen ... the whole nine yards...
It's got an AMD Turion 64 dual core CPU, ATI graphics card Broadcom wireless.
First, I tried to boot a VL Live CD and it was a no-go... so I figured "It must be a 32/64 bit thing" and dloaded yet another iso (VL64 beta)
That didnt' boot either... the verbose boot output repeatedly says "ACPI Critital temperature reached .... shutting down"
I tried booting with the noapm and acpi=off arguments in LILO, but it's not booting still.
The only thing that will boot in it is Ubuntu

and that's only using the same arguments at the prompt "noapm acpi=off"
Anyone got any ideas here?
