Using VL 5.9 SOHO and a Brother MFC-465CN networked printer. This printer is supposed to work fine in Linux. Printer is networked into my router, IP address 192.168.0.104 and I have set the router so that IP address is static. The printer works fine with my wife's Windows machine. I have downloaded the appropriate Linux CUPS driver for the Printer from the Brother website and CUPS now sees the driver. CUPS also sees the Printer as URI socket://192.168.0.104. Print jobs just seem to disappear into the ether however, absolutely no kickstarting the printer whatsoever. I have also tried a different CUPS URI such as lpd://192.168.0.104 and ipp://192.168.0.104 to no avail. I do not have any firewall on this machine. There are no obvious error messages in /var/log/cups.
Any ideas on where to start diagnozing this problem would be greatly appreciated.
