greetings forum,
i have installed 5.9.1 soho and have trouble with hplip=2.8.5-i586-8vi59. when i run hp-setup it stalls at PPD not found, and recommends downloading from linuxprinting.org. i used gslapt install hpijs but get the same result. when i try run>hp-toolbox i get dbus not installed but it is according to gslapt. any hope to get hp-toolbox running?

Look at dmesg, var/log/messages and other logs for any errors
so that a better direction can be persued

What about the logs? Is dbus running? Are you
trying to setup the printer as root? Dmesg was not
very helpful.

the log file is huge, i would need to break it down as it is to large to post. is there anything i should be looking for like an error msg. if not i will break it in half and try 2 posts. if i try to run $ hp-setup it tells me i must be root and stalls. gslapt says dbus is installed and i reinstalled it with the same result.
what about installing hplip-1.7.4.tar.gz from sourceforge. the canned hplip-1.7.4a will not even start.

maybe this will shed some light on the problem.
MultiInputContext::changeInputMethod(): index=0, slave=xim
