pyNeighborhood still fails to scan.

StrayBit, just to make sure, when I use pyNeighborhood I have to go into the options and uncheck the 'scan as anonymous' option (or whatever it's called), which allows the option to 'Scan as user'.  Do you have the option to 'scan as user'?

My network froze this AM requiring reboot of all machines including the WAB.  On restart. smbclient -L 192.168.1.101 -U bruce from compaq worked then pyNeighborhood found vector.  Trying from vector to compaq (smbclient -L 192.168.1.102 -U bruce) yields Connecrion refused.  And pyNeighborhood still fails.

Does anyone know where the default background color is set for mc?

First of all, below smb.conf is belong to vector or compaq? It seem to me there is some miss configure setting for the samba. I believe below samba setting is not need for a user-level samba server setting....

smb.conf is from Vector.  The intent was that, rather than trying to maintain 3 files on umpteen machines, use Vector to supply the information as to who is on and what their IP is.  My attempts to locate info on DNS or WINS just give me "No manual entry for  {entry}"   I suppose I could remove the interface - that was put in when the Wireless Modem was attached to eth0.

My attempts to use smbpassword (as root where all slibs are in the path) only gave me

First of all I am not expert in Samba and some more linux, so I may not can help you much. But from your smb.conf, I believe you are using vector as a WINS server too right? If yes, try to turn off the win proxy setting at your compaq smb.conf. That is all that i can see from your smb.conf....

Or you can reset your compaq's smb.conf and start with the share-level samba setting. If it work then you might can do it 1 by 1.....

Gslapt on Compaq is missing.  I also want to try to reinstall pyNeighborhood on Vector.  I can't locate either of those packages!  Any idea where I can find them?

I switched to Share on both.

Vector will NO LONGER boot   A couple of lines after Coldplugging it stops at

Remounting root device with read-write enabled
/dev/hda2 on /type xfs (rw)

VL4 Live cannot handle xfs, it can open /home (reiserfs on hda3).  I guess my only option now is to reinstall!  (Waiting to see if there might be any other options ).  It has been a good 2 months 

Also, smbclient on Compaq again has the cli_rpc_pipe_open error again for Gateway (but still shows its shares), Connection refused for itself, and, of course, connection to Vector failed.,
