Using 5.9 Standard (2.6.26.7 kernel).

So I got this external (usb) cd/dvd drive, which shows up in /dev/sr0.
When using hal, the icon shows up in the desktop for both movie dvds and data cds.

But it never shows up for data dvds when I insert them, unless the disc was in the drive from boot.

When I log in as root (runlevel 4), I get the same problem.
The problem doesn't seem to be the discs or the drive, as I can mount them manually.
I also checked fstab... the line for /dev/dvd is commented out (I don't suppose it matters, though)

Any ideas?? thank you!
