md5sums for distros?
« on: December 26, 2008, 03:55:14 pm »
Hi all,

I've been DL'ing some of the releases, but haven't seen or found where the md5sums are kept for same.  Just noticed in the VL 6.0 Standard Edition RC1 release thread http://forum.vectorlinux.com/index.php?topic=7999.0, that our dear Vector posted the md5 link right along with the link to the dl.

I also went from the vector DL page http://vectorlinux.com/downloads but didn't see the sums there --- or am I blind?   Might be bad that I'm using XP's point and click for downloading ... of course, it's file size is always off  :-\

Got a tad noisey ADSL line here, so it gets bad gas and burps on large files... or is it the beer I keep pouring into the ports?

cheers and happy holidays all

Normally, you will find text files with md5sums for the images in the same location where the ISO's are kept.
A little trick is to right-click the download link and copy the link location. Open a new browser window, paste the URL into the address window, and remove everything behind the last slash (/). In VL's case, that brings you to: http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/veclinux-5.9/iso-release/
