I am trying to get Vector 5.9.1 to be my distro of choice.. I really like it but..
every attempt to get RP-PPPOE working fails. I am using DSL and I don't have a router which means I have to connect
manually.
I was able to install TK-PPPOE with GUI and I am able to connect but can't ping/browse anything.
I think I know what the issue is but need help.
I need to connect using a device called ppp0. All the dists I have played around with in the past had that device (should be in /dev/ppp0?)
but when the device is eth0 this is for the ethernet card only correct me if I'm wrong.
I have rppppoe/ppp and all neccesary packages installed.
Please help if possible I really like this distro

UPDATE: After fooling around and googling... played with gOS tonight and found out the issue.. I had to change the IP address for eth0 to my router address 192.168.x.x== it was pulling up my provider's IP.
Ditched gOS== issues with my Ati driver off their own site (would not save res after every reboot) and it looks childlike to me and too much google stuff heheh.
And it's outdated. based on Ubuntu 8.04.
gunna reinstall Vector 5.9.1 today as it's getting bedtime. I tried RC2 of 6.0 was impressed so far. I personally wait for the finished final product.
thanks
