I've noticed that "/usr/libexec/GConf/gconfd-2 18" and "/usr/libexec/gam_server" are running as processes. One time I've seen TWO instances of gam_server running.  What are they, and what are they used for?

I'm running VL 5.9 Light on an IBM Thinkpad T21.
