New to Vector
« on: January 18, 2009, 12:33:17 pm »
Hi Folks,
Have been Linux user for about 2 years now, mostly PClinuxOS. Must say VL 5.9 Standard performs nicely on this old compaq deskpro, PIII - 700Mhz with 128 Mb ram only.
So far only TinyMe & Puppy did the trick. Had tried Slackware(based) distros before, but you have lowered the migration threshold considerably ! Easy and reasonably fast (considering specs) install. Think I'll enjoy discovering in's & out's  ;)
Thanks !

Welcome to VL!  I think you'll find that VL Light performs better than Standard on your hardware.
eMachines EL-1300G desktop, 1.6GHz AMD Athlon 2650e CPU, 4GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 6150 SE video
CentOS 6.5 (will try VL64-7.1 soon)

Toshiba Satellite A135-S4727,  Intel Pentium T2080 / 1.73 GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel GMA 950

HP Mini 110 netbook, 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 2GB RAM, Intel 950 video, VL 7.1
