Light will not come with the KDE desktop, but we're using a small piece of it (KDM) for a login manager. As of right now, the way to switch between IceWM and JWM is through KDM.

Will look into the VASM issue, thank you for the report.

Why KDM over GDM?  There is no easy way to change language and locale if you eliminate GDM.  That, to me, would make Light a whole lot less useful.

GDM will remain in Light, along with KDM. If both are chosen during install, KDM takes precedence as they are installed in alphabetical order.

OK, that makes sense to me.  You can always change between one and the other with vasm Smiley

Thanks,

Hi
Installed vl-light bata2 to the p3-600 with 256 on 10gig has ati agp card..install seemed slow but continued without issue and rebooted for a log in.
seems to be comming along..no dialer..maby I will be lucky with final

pathetic writer is well..if I have to install gnome for abiword and pathetic writer does not even come with fonts then I would prefer medit or geany or any tabed note pad and stardict available for download, for that matter if you ditch siag then add medit, stardict and gnu chess..I never use the spreadsheet anyway and spell checking is almost as limited as my proof reading..

.if you are stuck with pathetic writer thats fine  but at least add the fonts or make it available in the repository and use the space for a good notepad and dictionary..and who does not like chess and backgammon...xgammon is not even in the 5.9 repository..

the rest of the programs are all nice I love xine and the inerworkings of mplayerand use xmms every day as the alarm wakes me...well I added the alarm...not sure it is available either

I prefer no icons and with 5.9 light used fluxbox with wmdrawer..best of both worlds..all the icons you want total configability and some can be used for mount umounts...a mixer and clock and auto hide to photo frame bliss..Oh.. rightthen...

light looks good so far...the cd mount may be worth a icon..the menu item opens MC and does not want to umount from there...MC and pathetic writer..takes one back does it not..

ok I will shut up
cheers

@overthere:  All the fonts for Pathetic Writer are in the repo.  They are now included by default in Standard so if you have a machine with Standard installed (and I believe you do) you can copy the fonts from there.

PW is part of SIAG Office.  You can't just remove on part of the Office suite.  It's not packaged that way.

Thanks..I will download the new one as soon as I can..
thanks caitlyn..I can download the fonts but was suggesting or wondering why they are not included..perhaps a decision has not been made to keep siag so the fonts are a download? curious then if they will be included at the final so the office package looks better default..also if it is possible to set the .pw extension to open when clicked in the file manager...I already set it but others may see it as flacky if the fonts are a download and it will open .pw in the default text editor...I know you all are working very hard and I am not a great help..it is just something..
cheers...nice to know I can copy..never thought.

cheers
