EFG: I know the computers I put Linux on don't end up with Windows on them. Also, the principals of those two schools know my stance on software freedom; it doesn't mean a whole lot to them, but they do care about the kids.
What I had in mind specifically was pre-installation of Linux on computers sold in East and Southeast Asia, especially in areas outside of the wealthy Jakota Triangle, where software piracy simply takes place openly in street markets. It's so LOL when Linux advocates assume that the number of Linux pre-installs = the number of new Linux users.
Linux market share in China, for example, is still pissy. Look:http://www.zdnetasia.com/insight/specialreports/0,39044853,62028679,00.htm
