vl-hot question
« on: January 29, 2009, 06:46:32 am »
So far, I really like vl-hot.  It's much faster than HAL.

Was wondering if there were any how-tos or documentation for using it, any best practices for using with Fluxbox, etc.  Also, what's the best way to unmount a drive/device that vl-hot has automounted?  I've just been using umount from a terminal emulator (for instance umount /mnt/vl-hot/sda/vol1), but am not sure if that's the appropriate way to do it.

Thanks.

I always use vlh-umount . I never plugged more than one usb device , so running this command without params works ok.  Don't know what happens when you have more than one usb device plugged.

Running vlh-umount as normal user in a console (you could even set up an icon or menu entry for it) will unmount all currently vl-hot mounted partitions. I am (slowly) working on a better way to handle desktops without standard icon support, but am still unsure what the best way is.

Tip: You can usually just type vlh then hit tab for autocomplete in a console.
