I'm testing VL 6.0 Light Edition B2 on an old PIII 550MHZ I had kickin' around.  I'm pleased so far.  Makes a wonderful check the web/email box.

However, when I boot up my old 3C509 Etherlink 3 (ISA-remember ISA?) NIC is not connected.  I #modprobe 3C509 as root and then #dhcpcd eth0 to assign an IP address.

Here's my newbie question, how do I automate this procedure so it's done on start up?  Write a script?

Humbly awaiting a reply.

saewelo Huh Huh Huh  and a big thanks.

The way to automate that is to edit the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local

At the bottom of the file add your commands:

modprobe 3C509
ifconfig eth0 up
dhcpcd eth0

That should solve the problem, you may have to add wait or sleep to the
eth0 up and dhcpcd lines.
