ifconfig -a only lists lo

modules.conf and modprobe.conf lists alias eth0 e100  (this is the same is mthe 5.9 on the same machine.

6.0 does not have internet either.  I am writing this from the 5.9 session on the same machine.

I'm at a loss as to how to continue.

As root, enter:

/sbin/modprobe e100
/etc/rc.d/rc.network restart

and see if that works for you.  If it does then I'll pass along how to make the change survive a reboot.

Thanks Caitlyn.  I just need to remember to restart to get into 6.0 BEFORE i issue the commands  :-\

root:# /sbin/modprobe e100
FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.22.14/modules.dep: No such file or directory
compaq:/~
root:# /etc/rc.d/rc.network restart
Setting up basic network ...compaq:/~
The only directory in modules is 2.6.27.12 which does have that file.

Opps!  I just saw your reply in Distor Developement and am copying it there.  I really did think, at the time that this was my problem.
