Locating Wireless Assistant .5.7

I am trying to locate the Wireless Assistant .5.7 package.  I can't locate in the repositories, and as luck would have it, I can't remember which source I downloaded it from the first time.  This package is the GUI to the "wireless-tools" package.  Outside the repositories, its located here:

But I don't know how to install a package without Gslapt.  Is there an location index of the packages on the repositories?  With a question like that, its OK to laugh.

Vector Linux has it's own GUI tools for wireless so we don't have Wireless Assistant.  What version of Vector Linux do you have?  What will Wireless Assistant do for you that wicd won't do?

I am using 5.9 Standard Gold.  I tried wicd before wireless assistant and it didn't work.  The laptop is a Micronics GX3 and the wireless adapter is a TP-Link TL-WN610-G.  After some research, I found that the card is really a Atheros AR5212 which was "recognized" when I re-loaded 5.9 today.

After running "ifconfig", it saw the card as "eth0".  Everything was correct except no IP address.  DHCP is enabled.

I have an Atheros 5212 based card as well.  VL 5.9 uses an older version of ath5k which doesn't correctly recognize the 5212 chipset.  This has been covered in detail in this forum several times before.  Wireless Assistant won't solve your problem since you still lack an adequate driver.

You have three options:

1.  Upgrade your kernel to 2.6.27 or better which has the correct driver built-in.
2.  Download and install the older madwifi driver.  You'll need to compile it from source.
3.  Upgrade to Vector Linux 6.0 rc4 which has the required driver as well.

The Slackware package from their SourceForge project worked for me on 6.0 RC4. They say it is for Slackware current, so it might not work on 5.9:
