I think it would be nice to have a humor thread. Naturally I wouldn't recommend anything vulgar, bigoted, or otherwise offensive. So, for all you Cthulhu Mythos fans out there, here's one of the lamest jokes I could think of: Knock-Knock!
Who's there?
Cthul!
Cthul who?
(shoggoths cackle maniacally at thier own juvenile humor)
- from an unpublished short story by H.P. Lovecraft
And, from the cartoon "Foxtrot":

Dear Tom, this is disgusting! Humor is a serious thing and nothing to make jokes about. At the end you might find this entertaining or for fun. In the name of science I have to remind you that it was a serious task for scientific research to find the worlds most funny joke, and this was something which should not be done away so easily. Please refer to: http://www.laughlab.co.uk/So please think earnestly before you start inadequate laughing. Seriously, Carsten (presently operating on the blue pills and straighjacket)

Hey Carsten! Long time no talk-to! Great link by the way. Reminded me of that Monty Python piece where the joke was so funny it killed you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhmnOpoGAPwBlue pills ... aren't those the ones for, um ... never mind. Then there's this, from Penny Arcade: http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c16/tomh38/20020722h.gif?t=1233950799Kind of large to post here, and resizing it would probably make it illegible. Finally, I found the following image hilarious, but I'm not posting it here because it's definitely not safe for work, because it contains sorta-kinda nudity: http://www.sarda.es/fotos/linux-o-windows/linux.jpg. I posted a warning. I hope that's enough. If you think you might be offended, please don't click it. Carsten, I really like that British ... er ... UK ... um Welsh? ... let's go with "UK." That wry, dry, UK wit of yours. Unless you're from somewhere else.

Howdy Tom, ad 1) That solves why my girlfriend is feeding me on the pills! Thanks for tipping me ad 2) I am GERMAN In our country, especially during carnival, every punch line of a joke has to be announced by a jingle of a brass band. I think tis will become common law with Mrs. Merkel during this period of legislature Nice to talk to you again as well, Carsten

Hello again, Carsten, I don't know why I had the impression that you were from the UK. Perhaps it's because your English is better than mine, which is probably true of most Germans. Anyway, let's call it that well-educated, sophisticated German wit of yours. We have something in common. Most of my ancestors came to the US from Germany. We even have Oktoberfest here where I live. My grandfather on my father's side spoke German, though I never really knew him, since he died when I was only two years old. I've been to Germany on a few occasions. Very nice country, good food, friendly people, excellent beer. Perhaps a little more humor is in order, since this is supposed to be a humor thread:

As starter of this thread, I hereby move that the thread be washed, rinsed, and hung out to dry here: http://forum.vectorlinux.com/index.php?topic=8462.msg57419#msg57419HEY!? Whatz Up? Wasn't I here already - it's deja view all over. ( Self referential threads are like making faces at yourself in the mirror. And if you can't bring your self to do that, please re-read this thread. | )

Topics merged as requested. End result a little jumbled, but I'm sure you guys can figure it out. Actually, knowing this crowd, you'll probably even have some fun with that too!

"End result a little jumbled, [...] knowing this crowd, you'll probably even have some fun with that too! Grin" DOH! Er, Ah, Thanks, Nightflier but I didn't request that this be put through the SPIN Cycle! Now what a tangle of threads we have. (Credit goes to Tom, for starting the humor thread, which, actually begins in the middle. ) "Who's on Third?" or rather, WHOIS on third?

WinDoze, Good thinking there. I should have thought of it myself, but I may have been a little groggy at the time. Must be the cough syrup. In honor of the merger, I would like to post this:

LOL --- success to the merger!
(And scroll back up - I edited my "proposal post" just as you were posting your "proposal toast"
Speaking of groggy, pass me some of that cough syrup --- I think we're going to need it to untangle this thread!
