Which version of Vector Linux are you running?  On what hardware?  Did you install Firefox 3.0.6 from a VL repository or diirectly from Mozilla?

I have FF 3.0.6 and I have sound with Flash 10 so it's something specific to your install.  We'll need more info to troubleshoot this.

ok i have vector linux 5.9 gold - i installed firefox 3 from the repository and i think i have resovled the problem . My web cam was hogging the sound driver - something to do with oss - alsa ? - but anyhow i unplugged my usb  web cam - (logitech pro 4000) and rebooted and set the sound in xfce4-mixer to 'default' as it was set to #0 : VIA 83235 , then upped the volume in the  'pcm' setting in the mixer and hey presto i got sound with flash.. took me a while to figure out being quite new to linux . But hey got there in the end Wink

Glad you got it figured out.  When a problem is solved like this one is please go back to your original post and modify the subject to include [SOLVED] so that people who are looking to help know what to look at.

Welcome to Vector Linux, BTW!
