I can only find 2.8.8 in repositories.  Sorry, couldn't test here.

I've just repackaged so that dep. will no longer be a problem.
should be available in a few days.

if you want thought you can install wxpython-2.8.9-1 and then audacity and it will work.

I am not sure if the wrong package was moved to repo or not, but this package is not statically linked to wxgtk and it does have the dep on it in slack-required.
i downloaded it anyway to test, and it does work with vec's wxPython-2.8.9.1-i586-1vl60 package, however vecs package needs rebuilt on a clean box because of the dep on vlnvidia.

I've rebuilt with it statically linked to wxGTK-2.8.9 it's in my contrib now. so should be there soon.

I can wait and build it against Vector's wxpython package after he fixes the vlnvidia dep. see what I can do

if the statically linked package is similar in size then it would be better IMO, cause it wouldnt need the dep or break if wxgtk/wxpython ever get updated

Uelsk8s definitely knows more than I do.  If that static package isn't much bigger than the dynamic package let's go with that.  I'll get it into the repo this evening.
