i was wondering if there are some kde 4.2 packages for vl60. I need kdelibs to compile some of the usual applications. I'm willing to try and compile kde4.2 on my other clean machine,if there is an official slackbuild i can use.
Its a real shame kde4.2 is not avaiable at the repository. It should be avaiable, while its still hot and exciting.

I love kde 4.2 and i really miss it while using this distro atm. I'm sure there already are packages for sw12.1
http://mirrors.unixsol.org/slackware/slackware-current/testing/packages/kde4//
,but i wonder, if they are not vl-official packages, then i could be poluting the system if i use them

kde guys released kde4.2.1 which is supposed to be a bug fix release that also starts up slightly faster than the previous release. Until kde4 packages really get to the repo kde will get to kde 4.3  ,lol  Grin
Thats poverty guys, the repo is poor

Perhaps you should run Ubuntu or Fedora.  Seriously.  Our repos will never, ever compare to the big distros.  We don't have a large enough community to build the packages or maintain the repos of the sort the big distros have.  We don't have big corporate backing.  We will never compete in terms of repo size.  If a huge repo with all the latest goodies is what you need then Vector Linux probably isn't for you.

FWIW, VL 6.0 has the largest repo of any Vector Linux version so soon after release.  It is growing faster than we've ever managed before.  The repo maintainers can barely keep up with it as it is.  Even so, it still isn't Ubuntu or Debian or Fedora and never will be.

problems- kde4.2.1 meta package install causes:

messes up kdm in a major way- fonts are unreadable and the thing is rendered weirdly.I cant see anything
Kde is added as a failsafe session and it doesnt even start
