VL Light + Eee PC
« on: February 22, 2009, 04:39:16 pm »

Hello gang,

VL Light is one of my favorite Linux distributions.  It's super fast and works great on my standard laptop.  I've now purchased an Eee PC 900A, and was wondering if anyone had experience with VL Light on an Eee PC.  What do I need to get everything working perfectly with an Atom Processor and SSD?  Asus does have some Linux apps for Eee PC settings, so I'm curious how hard or easy it would be to set up, and what I should do.

Thanks a lot, everyone!

I don't have an EeePC.  My netbook is a Sylvania g Netbook Meso.  Having said that...

VL 6.0 has a lot of things needed for Netbook support that 5.9 lacks.  You will be far better off with the beta of 6.0 than the final of 5.9.

Does Asus provide source code for their utilities?  If so you could use vpackager to make VL packages for your system.

My netbook just plain works with VL 6.0 Standard.  The only thing I had to add was the webcam driver.  Everything else was fine right out of the box.  My machine does have an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor (N270), probably the same as yours.
