The version of libpng included with Vector Linux includes multiple memory corruption vulnerabilities.   See:   http://www.slackware.com/security/viewer.php?l=slackware-security&y=2009&m=slackware-security.523051 

UPDATE: New libpng-1.2.35 package is now available in the testing repositories for VL 5.9/VL 5.9.1 and VL 6.0.

The upgraded packages are now in the patches repository.  Installation via slapt-get or gslapt should now work correctly regardless of whether or not you have the testing repository enabled.
